Manual XY two-axis scanner
The GLIDER XY scanner is a 2-axis encoder scanner for manual inspection of slightly curved or flat composite surfaces. The scanner is well suited for raster scanning and supports the following technologies:
- Conventional Ultrasound (UT)
- Phased array ultrasound (PAUT)
- Eddy Current (EC)
- Eddy Currents of Phased Array (ECA)
Commonly tested materials include composites and aluminum, using a vacuum cup; and carbon steel, can be used with magnetic base as an option.
Design features
The X-axis is attached to two supports. Depending on the material to be tested, one of the following accessories can be used:
- Stand with vacuum suction cup (included)
- Magnetic base (optional extra purchase)
There are two encoder modules (one for each axis) for measuring probe position. Move these modules in steps of 3.27 mm, free-running or hard-locked.
The scanner comes in three sizes (18in., 24in and 36in.), depending on the scan range to be used:
- GLIDER 18 x 18
- GLIDER 24 x 24
- GLIDER 36 x 36"
The GLIDER Scanner Kit includes the following accessories:
- Two support bars for desired travel (18in., 24in, or 36in. depending on model)
- Two movable encoder modules
- Two vacuum cup attachments
- 5 m long encoder cable compatible with OmniScan devices
- PAUT probe clamp (40 mm)
- TOFD / PE clamp (31.75 mm)
- Probe holder mounting bracket 90°
- Probe holder mounting bracket 180°
- Spring-loaded probe holder arm
- Negative water pipe
- Hard carrying case

Magnetic title
Magnetic mounting base allows use on ferromagnetic surfaces (GLIDER-A-01)
Scroll bar
18in., 24in, or 36in sliders. Available as an option.
Manual water pump
Water pump compatible with negative lead (OPIX105).
Electric pump
CFU-03 and CFU-05 are used to provide wedge coupling during ultrasonic testing.
