Complete set of corrosion monitoring probes for pipes and tanks
Maintenance of oil & gas pipelines and backup storage tanks helps to keep people safe and maintain continuity in the transportation of raw materials. As a leading manufacturer of NDT equipment, our DC series (DC1 – DC5) series dual element transducers provide a complete set of corrosion monitoring tools when inspecting pipelines and tanks. These compact, versatile probes are optimized for thin materials and corrosion testing, and work with a wide range of ultrasonic inspection equipment and procedures.
Dual element transducers designed to provide clearer signal than single element transducers, with low ring down compared to equivalent transducers, useful for resolving smaller defects, examine the surface and distinguish between two consecutive indications.
DC1 and DC2 probes: Durable and versatile
With 7.5 MHz frequency and small roof angle, dual element transducers DC1 and DC2 provide optimal surface resolution within 7.6–50.8 mm with steel material.
Main advantages:
- Ideal for scanning thin materials.
- Superior in thickness measurement, corrosion mapping and defect sizing.
- Two configurations are standard (DC1) and thick case (DC2).
- Built to last, even under routine inspection due to its thick, wear-resistant walls (DC2).
- Works well on pipes with an OD as small as 1 inch (25.4 mm).
- Tests high temperature piping and tanks with heat-resistant hysteresis wedges up to 150°C (300°F)
- Suitable for small spaces: low height (18 mm) and small tip diameter – 0.455 inch (DC1) / 0.56 inch (DC2)
- The knurled case is easy to grip.
- Wide compatibility with optional BNC or LEMO . connector
- Improve cable durability with spring wrap (BNC connector only).
Probes DC3 – DC5: Inspect thinner materials, not just limited to corrosion testing and monitoring
Dual element transducer set DC3, DC4 and DC5 expand the ability to test thinner materials are from 0 – 38.1 mm thanks to 5 MHz frequency and optimal element size/position. The DC3's large angle design makes it capable of inspecting thin-walled pipe welds and other difficult applications.
Probe DC3
Pipe weld inspection and thin wall material inspection
Built with 5 MHz frequency and high angle longitudinal waves, DC3 . dual element transducer provided optimal near-surface resolution for these very thin materials from 0–15.24 mm.
Advantages
- High-angle longitudinal waves: inspect thin materials as well as provide corrosion monitoring.
- Fast, reliable weld inspection tool for thin-walled pipes
- Quick weld inspection can be performed
- Dual piezocomposite element for increased energy conversion efficiency
- Crossover baffle, prevent crosstalk
- Suitable for small spaces to inspect hard-to-reach areas (e.g. boiler tubes)
- Integrated wedge makes the probe compact
- Convenient microdot connector
Main applications
- Rapid ultrasonic inspection of thin-walled pipes, boiler tubes and other thin components
- Analysis and sizing of facial defects
- Distinguish between weld pins and foot defect indicators
- Pipeline and circumferential weld inspection
- Boiler pipe weld
- Pharmaceutical pipeline
- Heat exchanger tube
- Thin-walled components in the nuclear industry
DC4 and DC5 . probes
Optimized for defect detection and thin material thickness measurement
Produced at 5 MHz with low-angle tilting elements and 0-degree longitudinal waves, the DC4 and DC5 dual-element transducers provide the ability to Advanced thickness measurement and defect detection in these thin materials from 0 to 38.1 mm.
Advantages
- Near optimal surface resolution for thin materials
- Low roof angle improves corrosion defect detection and thickness measurement
- Replaceable wedge reduces transducer cost
- Crossover baffle, prevent crosstalk
- Convenient microdot connector.
Replacement wedge kits for DC4 and DC5 . probes
Probe sets for specific test criteria
Depending on your application, this combination of five probes provides improved defect sizing and corrosion monitoring. As specifications change, you can use a complete KIT with a total combined thickness range of 0–50.8 mm, as well as test pipe welds using the DC3.
Combined with flaw detector EPOCH™ 650 or 6LT or thickness gauge 38DL PLUS™ * enables efficient, accurate corrosion mapping to assess nominal thickness, pitting, and flaw type/size.
*Due to the acoustic path effect with the roof angle, manual V-Path correction may be required for the DC1, DC2, DC4 and DC5 transducers.
